The labels describe filter families

“Mineral” or “inorganic” normally refers to zinc oxide and titanium dioxide particles. “Organic” describes carbon-based filters such as avobenzone, bemotrizinol, DHHB and ethylhexyl triazone. “Chemical” is commonly used for the second group but is a poor safety contrast: every sunscreen is made of chemicals.

Mineral filters do not work only like mirrors

Measurements of zinc oxide and titanium dioxide sunscreen films found that UV attenuation came mainly from absorption, with only a small contribution from reflection.
