Privacy policy
What Layer & Strand collects at launch, what it deliberately avoids collecting, and how optional privacy-conscious analytics are controlled.

The short version
Layer & Strand is designed to work without accounts, advertising profiles, public uploads or personalised health data. The site does not ask readers to describe skin, scalp or hair conditions. Search happens on the server, and analytics never receives the words entered into the search box.
Hosting data
The hosting provider may process ordinary request and security data needed to deliver the site, prevent abuse and investigate failures. This can include an IP address in short-lived infrastructure logs, requested URL, time, browser information and response status. Layer & Strand does not use these logs to create advertising profiles.
Optional launch analytics
Production analytics are disabled unless explicitly enabled in the deployment configuration. When enabled, Layer & Strand uses Vercel Web Analytics for aggregated page views, landing pages and referrers, and Vercel Speed Insights for field performance measurements.
The integration strips query strings and fragments before an event is sent. Custom events contain only stable content, comparison and merchant-destination identifiers plus small categorical values. They do not include names, email addresses, search terms, medical concerns, complete URLs entered by a reader or free-form text.
Vercel documents that these services do not use third-party cookies to follow people across sites and do not associate analytics points with an identifiable visitor or IP address. The provider may process approximate geographic, device, browser, network and performance information. Reporting retention depends on the Vercel plan; the launch owner must confirm the active plan and retention setting before enabling analytics.
Cookies and consent
Layer & Strand does not currently set an analytics or advertising cookie and does not run a tag manager, advertising pixel or session replay tool. A cookie banner is therefore not implemented. Because privacy and consent requirements depend on where readers and the operator are located, analytics must remain disabled until the launch owner completes the documented legal review.
Corrections and evidence submissions
If you email a correction or packaging evidence, the publication uses the supplied address and files to evaluate and follow up on that submission. Do not include invoices, shipping labels, addresses, phone numbers or other unnecessary personal information. Public-safe evidence is redacted and separated from internal source material.
External destinations
Merchant, manufacturer, evidence and social links lead to other organisations with their own privacy practices. Layer & Strand does not send prices, ratings, availability claims or a reader's search text to those destinations.
Contact and review
Use the configured contact address shown in the site footer for general privacy questions and the corrections pathway for product evidence. Material changes to this policy will update its modified and last-reviewed dates. This policy is part of the pre-launch legal review and is not a substitute for advice from qualified counsel.
