Formula corrections and evidence

How readers, brands and retailers can submit formula corrections, current packaging evidence, discontinuation information and broken destination links.

What you can submit

Readers, brands and retailers may flag a formula correction, current packaging photographs, a discontinuation, a pack-size change, a manufacturer clarification or a broken merchant destination. The most useful submission identifies the exact product name, Indian market, pack size, where and when it was obtained, and the batch or date coding when legible.

For packaging evidence, useful photographs normally include the front identity panel, complete ingredient declaration, directions and warnings, manufacturer or marketer panel, size, barcode or product code, batch code, manufacturing date and expiry date. Do not send a cropped ingredient panel without enough adjacent identity information to connect it to the product.

Send evidence to editorial@layerandstrand.com. Include the product, market, pack size, observation date and source context.

How we handle evidence

We may independently check a submission against manufacturer, regulatory or retailer records. Submission does not guarantee publication or establish that the submitted pack represents every pack in the market. Where credible sources still disagree, both declarations may remain visible as a conflict rather than being forced into one current record.

Do not send unnecessary personal information. Before publishing a photograph, we remove or crop personal details and require location or device metadata such as EXIF to be stripped. An internal source asset and a public-safe crop or transcription are separate records; private evidence is not exposed automatically.

Independence and privacy

Commercial, affiliate or advertising relationships do not determine which formula record is accepted. Evidence is assessed for identity, date, market, pack applicability, provenance and consistency. We use contact details to evaluate and follow up on the submission and do not intentionally publish them without permission.

Corrections outcome

A verified typo may update a transcription. Evidence of a distinct version creates a new formula-version record while the older evidence is preserved. We do not invent a reformulation date: if all we know is that one pack precedes another, the public record will use a bounded statement such as “replaced sometime between the two verified pack dates.”
