Why does Re’equil list two ingredient lists for the same shampoo?

We found two materially different ingredient lists on Re’equil-controlled India pages for the same 250 ml shampoo. Here is what differs—and what the pages cannot tell us.

Quick answer

Re’equil’s main India product page and its brand-operated wholesale page listed the same 250 ml shampoo with materially different ingredient lists when checked on 3 August 2026. The pages establish a discrepancy; they do not establish which list matches a current pack or when a change may have happened.

The practical read

The investigation at a glance

The product shown
Re’equil Dandruff Control Shampoo, 250 ml, India
Where the lists came from
The main Re’equil product page and a Re’equil-operated wholesale page
What appears in both
Piroctone olamine, glycerin, fragrance and several shared surfactants and botanical names
What materially differs
The surfactant mix, conditioning polymers, preservatives and colourants
What remains unknown
Which list matches current packaging, and whether this is succession, a parallel formula or a publishing error

What we found

The main-page list adds 20 declarations not found in the wholesale list, while seven wholesale-list declarations do not appear on the main page. Twelve ingredients are directly retained, with four botanical pairs treated only as possible matches.

What appears in both lists

Both declarations include piroctone olamine, glycerin, fragrance, cocamidopropyl betaine, cocamidopropyl hydroxysultaine and several shared botanical names. Similar botanical wording is not silently treated as identical when one page says “extract” and the other says “root water” or uses different plant detail.

Major observable differences

The wholesale list begins with C14–16 olefin sulfonate after water and names methylchloroisothiazolinone, methylisothiazolinone and CI 42090. The main-page list instead begins with sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate and sodium methyl cocoyl taurate, and names a different group of conditioning ingredients, preservatives and CI 19140.

Ingredient order can show that the published sequences differ. It cannot establish exact concentrations or the size of any concentration change.

What we could not verify

No physical pack has been inspected by Layer & Strand. Neither page gives a formula effective date or batch number, so we cannot tell whether the lists represent a reformulation, parallel manufacturers, a stale wholesale page or another publishing error. Layer & Strand does not call this a dated reformulation.

How we checked the two sources

The main brand page names Lyra Laboratories and publishes a longer declaration beginning with sodium lauroyl methyl isethionate and sodium methyl cocoyl taurate.

The wholesale page names Hitech Formulation and publishes a shorter declaration beginning with C14-16 olefin sulfonate after water.

Both pages were remotely captured and verified on 3 August 2026. Neither source supplies a formula effective date or batch number.

No physical pack has been inspected by Layer & Strand, so neither online declaration is labelled physically verified.

In technical terms, these remain conflicting published formula declarations. We preserve both so dated packaging or manufacturer clarification can resolve the conflict without erasing the earlier observation.

Both online sources were last checked 3 Aug 2026.

Detailed ingredient-list comparison

The exact differences, list by list

The main Re’equil India product page and the brand-operated wholesale page both described a 250 ml Dandruff Control Shampoo when checked on 3 August 2026, but their published ingredient declarations differ in surfactants, conditioning agents, preservatives and colourants. This establishes conflicting published declarations—not a reformulation date, batch history or proof that either list matches a pack currently in a reader’s hand.

Ambiguous or possible matches

These terms are kept distinct unless stronger evidence establishes equivalence.

What cannot be concluded

  • The evidence does not show whether the declarations represent succession, parallel manufacturers, a stale wholesale page or another publishing error.
  • Botanical parentheticals and similar terms are preserved where exact equivalence is uncertain.
  • Ingredient order alone cannot establish exact concentrations or the magnitude of a concentration change.
  • Different published lists do not by themselves prove when, why or whether a product was reformulated.

Product: Re’equil Dandruff Control Shampoo. Neither declaration has been physically verified by Layer & Strand.

Have a current pack or correction?

A clear ingredient panel needs enough pack identity, market, size, batch and date context to be useful. Submission does not guarantee publication and commercial relationships do not determine the accepted record.
